15-year-old robert gladden, jr. now charged with attempted first-degree murder and first degree assault. gladden came to the first day of school yesterday armed with a shotgun and vodka. he fired off one shot hitting a

it comes seven years after the anniversary of katrina but a different storm. >> we'll get official landfall. hurricane isaac, isaac today being upgraded. it will pack winds of 80 miles an hour. contrast that with katrina which was a category five power house. of course, there have been a lot of reinforcements to the levees. isaac will produce rains. mobile, alabama, will get nailed with high winds and also a storm surge along the immediate coast, but the rainfall totals could produce 18 inches of rain in spots. oi sack will continue to move

an iowa woman had a terrifying experience on the highway. her suv sped out of control reaching more than 100 miles an hour. officers followed her for miles. >> it slowed enough. i jumped out and the officers tracked it down and unhooked the battery. i hugged i don't know which officer it was. oh, my god, i'm safe. i'm safe. thank you. thank you. >> police told the woman to lift

the food and drug administration is investigating a salmonella outbreak possibly connected to hang -- mangos. they believe it may be coming from mangos originating in mexico. there have been more than 100 cases between california, washington and canada. we have another recall. the consumer product safety commission announced a voluntary recall of care bear pacifiers. they pose a possible choking hazard for children many they were sold at various stores nationwide between 2009 and june 2012 for about $1. anyone with any of these pacifiers should take it away from their child and contact the

company for a refund. new information on the makers of several energy drinks. new york's state attorney general have issued subpoenas to the makers of five-hour energy, amp and monster drinks. company officials decided to comment to the associated press today. all right. let's start off with a check of hurricane isaac. new information coming out. hurricane hunters have been out. we have the upgrade from the tropical storm. winds of 80 miles an hour sustained, some gusts higher than 90. we'll be on the seven-year anniversary of katrina. katrina packed winds of nearly 150 miles an hour. this one is 70 miles an hour. however, there will be flooding

and a storm surge. first, i want to get you up to speed on the weather. it's been going in the right direction for this area, 88 degrees. dew point at 60. weather through the delay just a few clouds. some early showers just before daybreak. we had some sunshine on tap, drying things out nicely. we're still trying to dry out from nearly three and a half inches of rain. chesapeake beach blue skies. temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. so it's a warm summer like afternoon. late august often feels like this in maryland. the winds have shifted. that's good. the humidity will be dropping over the next 12 to 24 hours. dry air continues to funnel in out of the north and west.

altoona, pittsburgh, charleston. it continues to push the dry line further south, virginia beach and points further south. that will shut off our rain chances. quite a bit of rain with the accountal system over the carolinas. the main concern is with our tropical storm, our hurricane. over the next few hours winds will continue to increase across -- continue to increase across new orleans. rain will pour into southern alabama, already; and southern mississippi so. flooding rains have already begun. the center of circulation offshore but not by much. it's seven miles an hour. it looks close this make a landfall. well, at seven miles an hour, you imagine driving your car at seven miles an hour, you get the idea and it takes awhile.
